An EPUB (.epub) file is a universal ebook standard. While it helps to have some technical know-how when working with EPUBs, there are a number of tools available to create and deliver book files in the EPUB format to Apple Books. You can create EPUB files with Pages or other third-party tools, or work with an Apple-preferred partner who can help you get your books on Apple Books.
Are you a bibliophile looking to move your love for books to your Mac Or do you simply need something efficient to read important ebooks Whoever you are, the macOS App Store can help you with its wide selection of ebook-reading apps.
If you'd rather not go about downloading the classics individually, you can download Novels Hub at once instead. Novels Hub is a hub for classic books, all already displayed within the app. You only need to star the book you wish to read, and you will automatically add it to your personal library.
By default, the UI adopts ebook-friendly sepia colors and arranges the main page by category. If you prefer other themes, you can select various ones, including dark mode. You can also toggle the books into a list if you prefer it that way. Novels Hub also has a reader for better accessibility, offering a way to listen to the books instead of reading them.
PocketBook should be your number one go-to app for .mobi books. In fact, after you download PocketBook to your Mac, it will serve as the default app for launching anything with the EPUB file extension.
The iPhone and iPad are great devices for reading ebooks. You can use the iBooks app to read books in the ePub format, including iBooks purchased from Apple. But you may have your own ePubs that you've purchased from other vendors, or even public domain books that you've downloaded. If you don't want to use the combination of the iBooks app and iTunes (on the Mac) or iTunes alone (on a Windows PC), iMazing can transfer your iBooks and ePubs to your iOS device. Here's how.
I bought a Google E-book (acsm file) and opened it in ADE, but apparently the file hasn't turned into an EPUB file; instead, it appears as a .pdf file instead. I tried putting \".epub\" at the end of the file name, but the program failed in removing the DRM.
When Syme went out into the starlit street, he found it for the moment empty. Then he realised (in some odd way) that the silence was rather a living silence than a dead one. Directly outside the door stood a street lamp, whose gleam gilded the leaves of the tree that bent out over the fence behind him. About a foot from the lamp-post stood a figure almost as rigid and motionless as the lamp-post itself. The tall hat and long frock coat were black; the face, in an abrupt shadow, was almost as dark. Only a fringe of fiery hair against the light, and also something aggressive in the attitude, proclaimed that it was the poet Gregory. He had something of the look of a masked bravo waiting sword in hand for his foe.
At 11.00 PM on December 2 1984, while most of the one million residents of Bhopal slept, an operator at the plant noticed a small leak of methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas and increasing pressure inside a storage tank. The vent-gas scrubber, a safety device designer to neutralize toxic discharge from the MIC system, had been turned off three weeks prior . Apparently a faulty valve had allowed one ton of water for cleaning internal pipes to mix with forty tons of MIC . A 30 ton refrigeration unit that normally served as a safety component to cool the MIC storage tank had been drained of its coolant for use in another part of the plant . Pressure and heat from the vigorous exothermic reaction in the tank continued to build. The gas flare safety system was out of action and had been for three months. At around 1.00 AM, December 3, loud rumbling reverberated around the plant as a safety valve gave way sending a plume of MIC gas into the early morning air . Within hours, the streets of Bhopal were littered with human corpses and the carcasses of buffaloes, cows, dogs and birds. An estimated 3,800 people died immediately, mostly in the poor slum colony adjacent to the UCC plant [1, 5]. Local hospitals were soon overwhelmed with the injured, a crisis further compounded by a lack of knowledge of exactly what gas was involved and what its effects were . It became one of the worst chemical disasters in history and the name Bhopal became synonymous with industrial catastrophe .
With the industrial growth since 1984, there has been an increase in small scale industries (SSIs) that are clustered about major urban areas in India. There are generally less stringent rules for the treatment of waste produced by SSIs due to less waste generation within each individual industry. This has allowed SSIs to dispose of untreated wastewater into drainage systems that flow directly into rivers. New Delhi's Yamuna River is illustrative. Dangerously high levels of heavy metals such as lead, cobalt, cadmium, chrome, nickel and zinc have been detected in this river which is a major supply of potable water to India's capital thus posing a potential health risk to the people living there and areas downstream .
Ethel Lina White (1876-1944) was a British crime writer, best known for her novel The Wheel Spins, on which the Alfred Hitchcock film, The Lady Vanishes, was based. Some Must Watch: Set in early 20th century England, on the Welsh border, the novel tells the story of a serial killer who murders disabled young women in the community. His next victim apparently is Helen, a mute girl working as a maid for the wealthy, bedridden Mrs. Warren. Mrs. Warren urges her to leave the house, as does Dr. Parry, who knows the reason for Helen's loss of speech and hopes to help her get her voice back. Fear Stalks the Village: Series of poison pen letters cause panic in a small, quiet English village and soon after, the murders start happening. As the fear arises, Joan Brooks, who used to live a peaceful life, is forced to act fast in order to save the lives of her loved ones and her own. She Faded into Air: The story of the alleged disappearance of Evelyn Cross was too fantastic for credence. According to the available evidence, she melted into thin air shortly after four o'clock on a foggy afternoon in late October. One minute, she was visible in the flesh--a fashionable blonde, nineteen years of age and weighing about eight and a half stone. The next minute, she was gone. The Wheel Spins: Miss Loveapple has always had an unusual belief in her incredible luck. However, her luck is about to run out when she becomes a target of a cruel serial killer. Unaware of the danger, she goes through a number of insane situations escaping the death by a mere wonder. How long will she last Contents: Novels Fear Stalks the Village Some Must Watch (The Spiral Staircase) Wax The Wheel Spins (The Lady Vanishes) Step in the Dark While She Sleeps She Faded into Air Short Story Cheese
